H. M. Mills was born in Manchester, UK, and emigrated to Australia aboard the S.S. Australis in 1974. She later graduated with a Diploma of Equine Industry Management and spent many years working in the field while raising a family and a lively menagerie of horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, ducks, and guinea pigs.
Now owned by one very sassy black cat with equal parts chaos and attitude, she devotes her time to serving the oh‑so‑demanding one and writes whenever given permission or during Her Majesty’s nap time.
After a full and chaotic life, she settled in Northern Tasmania, where she rediscovered the quiet needed to return to writing. Lord Have Mercy became her first published novel, followed by Mercy on Your Soul and Sweet, Sweet Mercy. She is
