If I have developed my character well enough, they will react to a new situation independently. For example, send them out to dinner. It’s amazing how conversations between the characters will suddenly develop, creating a scene that I didn’t even know was needed to be part of the story. I can do this because my characters become very real to me and have a mind of their own. Who am I to tell them how they should react to a new situation? (less)

The only stories that make it to paper are the ones that the character takes on life. (less)
