I'm a retired battalion chief from the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Colorado. My 37-year career began as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey, then progressed to the USAF, USMC, and nearly 30-years with Loveland Fire. During my career I served at the ranks of firefighter, driver/operator, lieutenant, and battalion chief. I've led many programs including hazardous materials, wildland firefighting, special operations, EMS, recruiting, and health and safety.

I am the founder and owner of the Fire Officer's Leadership Academy, providing leadership training and coaching to fire department officers.

I was also helped along by finding my best time to write, which for me began anywhere between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.(less)
