Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace by Elaina Noell
“You’ve already learned an effective way to do what performance reviews have been failing to do for decades. Using the Results Model regularly will meet these exact objectives without the ineffectiveness of reviewing a year’s worth of work through a triggering experience that statistically (and neurochemically) decreases performance.”

“Employees are accountable for “the how,” and leaders are accountable for empowering employees to discover it themselves.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“How to demonstrate company values is not obvious by default. Often employees have a sense of “what we do,” but the “how we do it” remains subjective to each individual’s default patterns, interpretations, and preferences.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“The irony is, in the midst of the pressure this creates for both companies and employees, employees also want a culture of accountability. Cultures with a poor accountability structure create a toxic work environment that under-values star performers, incorrectly rewards poor performers, and leaves leaders feeling confused and overwhelmed. In the end, the best employees leave for a culture with greater accountability so that they are no longer adopting the slack of employees who are not being held sufficiently accountable.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“…Company culture values should reflect a clear, unified definition of the company’s standards.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“…The leader sets the limit on an employee’s possibility ceiling, defined as the limit on what one believes is possible, especially in relation to an employee’s potential, abilities, and competence. For better or for worse, possibility ceilings generally become performance ceilings.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“…heavy praise loses its value when disproportionate to the effort it took to achieve it.”
Elaina Noell, Inspiring Accountability in the Workplace: Unlocking the Brain's Secrets to Employee Engagement, Accountability, and Results

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” The creature brain must have been holding the pen when that old maxim was written.”
