I teach courses about sexuality, race, gender, and American popular culture. I conduct ethnographic research into the everyday lived experiences of Black gay, lesbian, and bisexual people in the U.S. I frequently give talks about the intersections of popular culture and critical theory. I write articles about ethnography, language, and Black Feminist and Queer Theory. My latest book, The Black Queer Work of Ratchet examines the word "ratchet," exploring the way that it is used within my field site and within broader U.S. cultural spaces. ...more

Very helpful and easy to integrate into my Spanish language self-study that was happening over here. Duolingo just doesn't cut it. At any rate, since integrating a few very helpful concepts from Wyner, I think I'll have Spanish at fluent proficiency ...more
