T.S. Curtis was born and raised in Northern Alberta, and has also called Vancouver Island home. She has a Joint Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in History and Political Science from the University of Ottawa, which focused largely on the history and effects of colonialism. While completing her degree, she worked in the Canadian Public Service to develop her skills, and a bulk of her work was written during lunch breaks. She is now working in education. When she isn’t working or writing, she spends as much time as she can outdoors, loving hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing in particular, or finding a few peaceful moments to read cuddled with her two cats.

Because I have so many projects on the go, usually if I have writer's block I'll just move on to the next series and keep writing for something else. Usually, eventually, I'll circle back around and be able to write again. Taking a break from a book/series can be really helpful, give you and your characters time to breathe.
But one of the things I have found really helpful when blocked on a series is immersing myself into the series and characters. This is when those writing exercises and lists come in really handy. You don't need to go into a book knowing every detail about the world you are creating (whether it's fantasy or more contemporary), so if you're feeling blocked or uninspired, it can be a good time to go into this side of the book. Find those writers checklists, or character worksheets on pinterest, and let your thoughts flow, and your understanding of your characters/world grow. I really enjoy just filling out those long character questionnaires because it forces me to think more like my character, and gives me a look into who they are, which can often inspire the next part of the story.(less)

Celebrating Ink & Crown - WITH RECIPE!

Just here for the recipe? See below

Ink & Crown -- book of my heart -- has been out for a year. On April 4th, I celebrated the huge accomplishment of putting that story out. I look at it and there are things I would change -- and I may have a few things up my sleeve -- but at the same time, I would not change it, or the journey to get there, for the world.

I’ve always kind of pictured S

“Thank you to the boy who broke my heart,
Because you have to have a heart
To have it broken”
T.S. Curtis, Shades of Blue

“What's your weapons?
A pen, usually.”
T.S. Curtis

“Chase the dream
Everyone will tell you
How crazy it seems
But baby,
When you make it
You’ll look back and wonder
What could’ve ever made you say no, I can’t
Because you will prove you can
The scary
Is usually what’s right”
T.S. Curtis

“I took my broken heart
And without a thread to sew the edges together
I let it heal slowly and painfully
Until the edges became scar tissue
A visible representation
Of everything I had survived
Every word I wrote
A piece of tape to hold together the cracks and fissures”
T.S. Curtis, Heart & Healing

“To my angry little poet
Keep going
There are better days ahead”
T.S. Curtis, Heart & Healing

“For the dreamers
And the doers
The movers
And the shakers
This one is for you”
T.S. Curtis, Heart & Healing
