Natalie Nascenzi is a poet, author and copywriter based in Manhattan NYC (and the world!) She is originally from Rhode Island, but moved to the city in 2017 to pursue her career in advertising. After a dramatic weight loss transformation of over 85 pounds and a journey through anxiety, depression, and loss of self, Natalie found herself again through words. Since then, she made an impression on New York City’s open mic community and her works have been featured across the world in anthologies and independent publications. From her first book Out of Chaos to now, Natalie has spread her message of hope and transformation and has continued the journey with readers through The Aftermath of Unrest. From me: My goal is to inspire others, promote hope, and deliver the message: No matter what you go through, you are not alone. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel and a shoulder to lean on.

I'm from Rhode Island but I moved to the city in 2017 to pursue a career in advertising as a copywriter. I started out freelancing at a small boutique agency *drum roll please* and I hated it. I booked a one way plane ticket to LA and planned on kissing NYC (and copywriting) goodbye.

Then, something magical happened–my good ol’ friend fate stepped in.

The day before my flight, on the last day of my job, I was given the opportunity to interview at a different agency. Shockingly enough, they hired me on the spot and I started work that following Monday.

Immediately after starting my new position, I embarked on a new journey–weight loss. Eight months later, I was down 75lbs. It all happened at once: a new job, a new life, and a new me. Learning to navigate a new city, a new sense of self, and a highly demanding job began to take its toll. This led me to my next journey, into chaos, which I like to call my “battle of selves.”

This unexpected turn greeted me with crippling anxiety, intrusive/repetitive thoughts, and depression. I was waltzing with my shadow self and dancing through life in total chaos. During this time, I was forced to face demons that I didn’t even know I had, and the one true thing we all fear…myself.
Out of chaos came clarity, strength, and poetry; and the completion of my first book.

Since then, I've been performing all over the city and writing wherever I can! I'm excited to share my journey of transformation with you all from Out of Chaos and into The Aftermath of Unrest.
