Danika Bloom writes small-town (and small city) rom-coms where love gets wonderfully weird and family is whoever shows up with snacks during your breakdown. She's obsessed with the bizarre little rituals couples develop—because honestly, isn't declaring your feelings through origami made from grocery receipts more romantic than basic flower delivery?

When she's not writing stories about found families and the beautifully strange ways people connect, she's probably taste-testing a new baked good recipe her retired husband has made to lure her from her office.

What my dad actually did for work. He called himself an entrepreneur, but never gave details.

In university, he hired two of my male friends to work for him. Years later they told me they were doing low-level spy stuff - going through specific people's trash, for instance.

Once, on a trip home to visit, my mom and I loaded up an old suitcase with stuff I wanted to save from my childhood. We were at the airport when Dad noticed the suitcase - and he freaked out because it had a false bottom in it. Mom didn't know. He told me that if I was asked, to say I bought it at a second hand store.

Dad died with most of his secrets. If he shared what he was really doing for work with Mom, she's as tight-lipped as he was.(less)

And, as an action that I have control over as opposed to some evil wall that is mysteriously dropped in my path, I get to choose to just write through the slump. Which is what I do. I just keep writing and deal with the mess in the editing phase.(less)

ARC reviews for The Billionaire's Shrubbery

Nothing is scarier than those first few days after ARC readers get the link to my new book. Will they love the characters as much as I did? Will they root for them the way I did?

All signs point to yes for Will Power and Virginia Beach's grumpy/sunshine pairing in The Billionaire's Shrubbery!

If it's not clear by the titles and character's names, this is a rom-com!

What I love most are the reviews t Read more of this blog post »

Thanks, Jane! I wrote a creative non-fiction piece awhile ago about how watching my old tabby shamelessly masturbate helped me overcome my ingrained puritanical ideas about self love! Keep smiling. Stay safe. Reads lots! xo
