My name is Tara Lynn Marta, and I am the author of Look Back To Yesterday, my first novel. My dream of becoming a writer began as a child in Brooklyn, NY, where the writing bug took hold of an imaginative young girl whose entire world was devoted to books and fantasy.

Throughout my adolescence and twenties, I continued to nourish my appetite for writing by studying the lives of famous authors. I was interested not so much in their personal lives but in their journey as writers.

In my early thirties I became a college student, or adult learner, at a local community college. I then went on to Penn State to become an English major, and, after that, to Wilkes University to study Creative Writing.

My first short story entitled “A Writer’s Life,” was published in 2016. Since that time, I have been fortunate to have myriad short stories and essays published both online and in print.

In 2018 and 2019, I was a finalist in the Adelaide Literary Award Writing Contest. My first novel, Look Back To Yesterday, released on June 12, 2020, was published by Adelaide Books.

As a voracious reader, I find myself enthralled by classic authors, such as Louisa May Alcott, Willa Cather, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, among others. My love of reading includes contemporary writers as well: Margaret Atwood, Wally Lamb, Elizabeth Berg, just to name a few. Although I enjoy fiction, I am particularly interested in biographies and nonfiction books on the art of writing.

Besides reading and writing, I enjoy hiking, biking, tennis, and kayaking. As a frequent traveler, my journeys have taken me on literary pilgrimages where I have walked in the footsteps of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, Edith Wharton, Herman Melville, Mark Twain, and Harriet Beecher Stowe.

My goals in life are to first: honor God; second: publish more books: third, travel to venues I have never been. And finally, I wish to live a good, decent, meaningful life, so that at the end of my days there will be no regret. “When I got to my grave,” as Dylan Thomas so eloquently stated, “my head will be high.” ...more
