Public response to the book

"Hogs in the Sand" has been out for six weeks, and the response from my readers has been extremely gratifying, to say the least! I get emails and book reviews every day that simply blow my mind. Thank you to everyone who has commented.

The current world situation has limited my ability to do public book signings, talks, and similar appearances, but I'm already making plans for whenever the restrictions ease, and I'm looking forward to going out on the road!

If you've read the book, you may be interested in checking out the book's Facebook page, where I regularly post photos of some of the places and events in the book. Soon, I'll even post some video clips that help fill in the mental blanks you might have about Operation Desert Storm and the A-10 Warthog in particular.

Book release day!

Today is the official release day for my book, "Hogs in the Sand!"

It's been a busy, exciting day -- starting with responding to hundreds of social media mentions and comments. I also spent many hours revising my website, taking phone calls, and posting ads here and there.

I can't tell you how gratifying it is to get such nice comments and messages of support from friends and strangers alike.

As I begin this long journey of promoting, marketing, and talking about the book, I have to step back and think of all the people who have helped me along the way. This book has been a labor of love, and a life-changing endeavor. I could not have done it without my fiends and family.

So now I launch my baby into the world. I truly hope my readers enjoy the story:

Five weeks to go!

Hi, folks. In approximately five weeks, my book will be released, and I'm really excited to share the story with you. It was a long time coming, and there are many reasons for that.

Most of the the book was written almost 30 years ago, when I was a young Lieutenant in the US Air Force. I kept a detailed, daily journal of a year of my life and, as it turned out, it was quite a story. I wrote about my squadron's preparations to go to war, the war itself, and the let-down afterward. I wrote about things that even today are terrifying to recall and contemplate. I am still stunned that I had the wherewithal, at that time in life, to write in detail about the perilous things I was experiencing. But I'm oh so glad I did.

So why did I wait so long to try to get it published?

Fear, mostly. Fear of exposing myself to the world, with all my weaknesses and missteps on open display. Fear of terrorist retaliation, maybe. Fear of not characterizing my friends and their stories exactly right... The list goes on.

But at a certain point in your life, the fear goes away, and you realize the story is simply clamoring to get out.

As we approach the 30th anniversary of the Persian Gulf War, I hope you'll enjoy reading this chronicle of what it was like to fly the mighty A-10 Warthog into combat for the very first time in its operational life.

For more information about the book, and to see some cool A-10 videos, you can visit Hogs in the Sand, or visit us on Facebook.

Thank you for your support.
