Five weeks to go!

Hi, folks. In approximately five weeks, my book will be released, and I'm really excited to share the story with you. It was a long time coming, and there are many reasons for that.

Most of the the book was written almost 30 years ago, when I was a young Lieutenant in the US Air Force. I kept a detailed, daily journal of a year of my life and, as it turned out, it was quite a story. I wrote about my squadron's preparations to go to war, the war itself, and the let-down afterward. I wrote about things that even today are terrifying to recall and contemplate. I am still stunned that I had the wherewithal, at that time in life, to write in detail about the perilous things I was experiencing. But I'm oh so glad I did.

So why did I wait so long to try to get it published?

Fear, mostly. Fear of exposing myself to the world, with all my weaknesses and missteps on open display. Fear of terrorist retaliation, maybe. Fear of not characterizing my friends and their stories exactly right... The list goes on.

But at a certain point in your life, the fear goes away, and you realize the story is simply clamoring to get out.

As we approach the 30th anniversary of the Persian Gulf War, I hope you'll enjoy reading this chronicle of what it was like to fly the mighty A-10 Warthog into combat for the very first time in its operational life.

Thank you for your support.
