RUPERT SMITHSON is from the distant future of the same planet where The Stars Hereafter Chronicles begin circa 52,000 BCE. He describes himself as an author in the fabulist genre. However, he paraphrases Pablo Picasso when he says that, like all art, fiction is “the lie that tells the truth.”

He credits his most fortunate meeting with the chronicles’ protagonist Sir Rowan Berry Longbow, whose life story they comprise, to the accidental and indirect aid of an ingenious device invented by his physicist friend Fiona Power (which she calls the Oculi in Tempore in Latin, or the Eyes in Time).

With respect to the Oculi, Smithson says: “I am truly grateful that Fiona’s device, hitherto restricted to a kind of temporal telescope with which she viewed

Speculative fiction, i.e. science fiction and fantasy, was a particular joy when I was a child, but as is the case for many when grown up, fossilization set in and it was discarded as childish. How wrong I was! Human beings are storytellers from start to finish. Speculative fiction has the most scope for exploring human nature and the universe, more than non-fiction, e.g. philosophy, in my opinion.(less)

That sounds daunting, but the fact is that in any adventure the journey is more important than the goal. The best metaphor for that I can think of is music, especially if one is a musician, who acquires deep knowledge of the paradox of time and eternity.(less)

Greetings!

Well, it's been a long time. The Stars Hereafter Chronicles in nine volumes is now complete.

However, I've not kept up to date here at Goodreads due to the incredible amount of work that was over five years.

For now, I invite readers to my Instagram page, as well as my Facebook page to be updated until I can mirror posts at Goodreads.

Thank you, beta readers, and I look forward to hearing from you. C Read more of this blog post »

“The heart is that without which you would not be you, your, how you say… essence, that which is real, which does not change. The essence of honey is sweetness, yes? Its heart is sweet. The essence of self is love, more pure than the purest honey. The essence is the heart, the innermost, beyond which there is no whicher. It knows not the future, nor the past. It knows the eternal now alone. It is complete.”
Rupert Smithson, Lightning Seeds

“In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in between them, there are doors.”
William Blake
