William Havelock answered Jkane's question: First, congratulations on an excellent historical fiction series. Did I miss it, or was Varus' brother ever freed from being a slave, or does he still remain a slave through all three books? If he is still a slave, I would have thought that his actions during the civilian uprising after the chariot races, AT LEAST, would have been sufficient service to reward his freedom, no? This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)
