I was born in Cambridge, UK, and began drawing cartoons from an early age. After school at sixteen, I became an apprentice bookbinder restoring and binding leather books and journals by hand. A trade I have now been involved in for over thirty years.

My cartoons and updates on my writing can be viewed on my 'David Howden Illustrator and Author' page. Many cartoons used in my books, as well as work-in-progress shots from initial pencil to ink, are featured. Many of these were used in 'The Tooth Bearer' illustrated book and the sequel, 'The Tooth Bearer and the Masked Crown'

My daughter provides much of the inspiration to write these books and also has helped with the drawings, submitting some of her own for the illustrated copy.
