I’m a freelance ghost for mainstream genres but when I’m my own man I write strictly for the laughs. I dream of an alternative reality in which PG Wodehouse wrote locked room mysteries, and in which I’m PG Wodehouse.

I also appreciate the delightful comparison to cheese rolling and, for that matter, cheese rolling itself — there just has to be a plot device in that, hasn’t there?
Yes — another Anty adventure is well in hand. In fact, I’m writing this note in the short period between finishing the outline for book six, about two minutes ago, and beginning the actual writing, about two minutes from now.

Thank you very much Susan, I sincerely can’t think of another way I’d rather have my books described.
The Case of the Carnaby Castle Curse, in which we learn the peculiar origins of London’s finest club steward, is well in hand and aimed squarely at an April release. I’ve made similarly rash promises in the past, however, and overshot the release date of The Tale of the Tenpenny Tontine by, hang on… September, Octob… blimey — three months!
I can only say for certain that it’s coming along nicely and I’m going to do my best and, even if it’s me saying so, it’s a cracking yarn.
