“In music, musicians must be able to read musical notes and have developed the skill to follow the music from their studies. This skill allows them to read new musical notes and be capable of hearing most or all of the sounds (melodies, harmonies, etc.) in their head without having to play the music piece. By analogy, in Mathematics, we believe a scientist, engineer or mathematician must be able to read and understand mathematical codes (e.g., Maple, Mathematica) in their head without having to execute the problem.”
Inna K. Shingareva, Maple and Mathematica: A Problem Solving Approach for Mathematics

“One of the ideas of this book is to give the reader a possibility to develop
problem-solving skills using both systems, to solve various nonlinear
PDEs in both systems. To achieve equal results in both systems, it is not sufficient simply “to translate” one code to another code. There are numerous examples, where there exists some predefined function in one system and does not exist in another. Therefore, to get equal results
in both systems, it is necessary to define new functions knowing the method or algorithm of calculation.”
Inna K. Shingareva, Solving Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations with Maple and Mathematica

“The Last Judgement is the Last Judgement, but a human being who spent his life in Russia, has to be, without any hesitation, placed into Paradise.”
Joseph Brodsky

“I'd like to live as a poor man with lots of money.”
Pablo Picasso

“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.”
Sergei Rachmaninov

“I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to to dance better than myself.”
Mikhail Baryshnikov

“More than ever, we are dealing with the history of the masses, and no history of individuals. Less than ever, it is possible to predict the near future ...”
