D. M. George always wanted to be a mermaid; one of those wily beauties who can lure a sailor to his destruction while polishing off a conch of caviar. But by the time she had college, motherhood, and an advertising career under her belt, her saltwater fantasies had evaporated into the ennui many women experience in midlife.

On a fateful trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast, however, she found her metaphoric fishtail in the legend of Parthenope and spawned her debut novel, A Trail of Pearls.

D.M. George lives in San Jose, California with her merman and two grand-dogs.

The genre overflows with sweet, wide-eyed teenage mermaids who live in Atlantis. My main character, Parthenope, is a bitter, deeply flawed old soul with a tragic past who lives in present day Capri. So much more identifiable.
