James G. Carlson is an award-winning author of horror, science fiction, and dark fantasy. His short stories have appeared in various anthologies. He has released three collections of dark fiction: Seven Exhumations, The Ever-Descending Staircase, and Underwater Typewriter and Other Tales. He has also released three novellas: The Legion Machine, Midnight in the City of the Carrion Kid, and Red Falls (in the book Hacked in Two, with Daemon Manx, and then in Underwater Typewriter and Other Tales). In 2023, Carlson teamed up with fellow author Michael R. Collins for Miracles for Masochists, a collection featuring one collaborative tale and three shorts by each author. As for what I would do in such wondrous places, I think I'd play the tourist. In other words, I would try to experience and observe all they had to offer. Within reason, of course, as I wouldn't want to meet an unfortunate end due to a bad decision while visiting. (less)
