Virginia Woolf
“We are cut, we are fallen. We are become part of that unfeeling universe
that sleeps when we are at our quickest and burns red when we lie
asleep.”
Virginia Woolf, The Waves

Virginia Woolf
“For this moment, this one moment, we are together. I press you to me. Come, pain, feed on me. Bury your fangs in my flesh. Tear me asunder. I sob, I sob.”
Virginia Woolf, The Waves

Jussi Valtonen
“(Hän) huomasi välillä ikävöivänsä Suomea, harmaisiin ja mustiin pukeutuneita ihmisiä, jotka aamuisin seisoivat surullisina bussipysäkillä kuin olisivat juuri menettäneet kaiken.”
Jussi Valtonen, He eivät tiedä mitä tekevät

Ocean Vuong
“But why can't the language for creativity be the language of regeneration? You killed that poem, we say. You're a killer. You came into that novel guns blazing. I am hammering this paragraph, I am banging them out, we say. I owned that workshop. I shut it down. I crushed them. We smashed the competition. I'm wrestling with the muse. The state, where people live, is a battleground state. The audience a target audience. "Good for you, man" a man once said to me at a party, "you're making a killing with poetry. You're knockin' em dead.”
Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous

Audre Lorde
“It is not the destiny of Black america to repeat white america's mistakes. But we will, if we mistake the trappings of success in a sick society for the signs of a meaningful life. If Black men continue to define "femininity" instead of their own desires, and to do it in archaic european terms, they restrict our access to each other's energies. Freedom and future for Blacks does not mean absorbing the dominant white male disease of sexism.”
Audre Lorde, Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches
