Cherise lives in Northampton, UK, with François and Lola the mini Dachshund. She has previously written plays for the London stage including The Door (Park Theatre) and The Real Girl (Tristan Bates). Hop the Kangaroo Dog is her first children’s picture book.

Cherise loves fun, zany stories that have a moral, and are accompanied by bold, detailed illustrations. Her favourite children’s book authors include Roald Dahl and Benji Davies.

In her free time Cherise enjoys reading, hot yoga, experimenting in her kitchen with baking, and cuddles with Lola.

Sitting staring at a screen stressing myself out that I can't make the connection from one bit of the story to the next is a sure fire way to cause myself unnecessary upset and anxiety. I have always found that the best thing to do is put down the thing I am working on, and see what else comes. Sometimes it's baking, sometimes it's doing a bit of online learning, sometimes I just read a book or listen to music, and sometimes a completely different idea wants to be explored so I do that.
