Growing up, Alessandro Reale always had a passion for storytelling. When he was six years old, he wrote his first short story about the class teddy bear. At age eight, he penned a short detective story for the school newsletter. He then returned to tell another short story revolving around the teddy bear and his journey across the world.

By age 14, Alessandro began working on his first full-length novel. This would eventually form the foundation of "Dodger's Doorway," which Alessandro officially self-published in 2011.

As of 2025, Alessandro has self-published a sequel to Dodger's Doorway, a middle-grade chapter book, and eight children's books. His book, "Only One Samantha," won the Best Children's Book Award at the 2018 Indie Author Book Ex

You don't have to drill away day after day, hour after hour, with no breaks. It's okay to take a day off every once in a while. Hell, take an entire week off if you need it. Once you step away from your work and give yourself time to refuel, you can come back with a fresh perspective.

But make sure you don't take TOO much time off. As I always say, writing is like a muscle. The more time you take off, the weaker it becomes. I'd say a week-long break should be the maximum. After that, it's time to get back to writing. If you're still experiencing writer's block, try working on something else. Write a blog post, tackle another part of the story, do some editing. Just make sure you're doing something related to writing to keep those creative juices flowing.(less)

My Thoughts on AI in Writing

Artificial intelligence used to be the stuff of science-fiction. Whenever we heard those words, or even came across any mention of “AI,” we imagined a utopian world where sentient robots carried out tedious or even dangerous tasks while humans were able to pursue more meaningful paths.

However, movies, books, and video games blasted us with stories of the dangers of AI. Some people worried that co
