Anne Weaver, along with her husband, Bo, have three beautiful children, whom they enjoy giggling with regularly. This giggling together is what inspired Anne to become a Children's Book author.

Anne's book have a serious side, too. After giving birth to two amazing kiddos, Anne and her husband reflected: "Our family just didn't feel complete. However, we didn't feel led to have another biological child, either. After prayer, we felt led to go to Liberia, Africa where our youngest son, Caleb (Favor), was born." Anne wrote "Favor" as a way for her own son to always remember where he came from, and to celebrate the choice he chose to make.

If I'm struggling with content, then it means passing bad rhymes back and forth with my children. It means asking them what silly topic they want to hear about next. I have a whole PACK of silly drafts written based on my kid's interests. A silly draft book on bugs, one on horses, one on camping, one on all the different types of cows (like dolphin cows and hippo cows and...). It means spending time with a thesaurus looking up funny words that rhymes with other silly words. Silly times with silly children.

When it comes to a more serious topic, like the "Favor" stories, it again means going to my children. Looking at what they are struggling with, looking at what they are being asked at school, looking at how they are reacting to certain situations. What topics would, in a picture book style, help to support what my children are going through. To me it is about supporting young kids at their level. So when I hit writer's block here, I, again, go to my children, but this time it is to have deep conversations with them.

So, the best way to deal with writer's block: talking to my kids!(less)

I have found out, even, that several of my friends are adopted! All because "Favor" is about my own son's adoption experience. You would think I would have already known these things, but people don't always share unless they feel safe doing so... so the doors that are opening for encouraging others - that is my favorite part!(less)
