Arundhati Basu is a former journalist from Calcutta, India. She studied English Literature at Presidency College, Calcutta, and followed it up with an MA Diploma in journalism studies from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi. Basu started her writing career in 2003, reporting for the leading dailies in Delhi, The Times of India and The Telegraph. In 2012, she quit journalism. In the same year, she relocated with her spouse, Aditya Varma, to the Midlands in the UK. She started working as a freelance writer. Alongside she travelled extensively with Varma and wrote about her travels in her popular travel blog, The Travelling Diary of a Dippy Dotty Girl.
