How a story came to "life".
Dragonkind Dawn of Prophecy is a book series I've thought an awful lot about. I spent the better part of twenty years thinking about the main character and assuming his, and his father figure's, names into everything I did. I am Kail Claskan, yet they're two different characters. So does that make me three people, two people, or just a dude with a story. I'm going with the latter.
That's fine and all, but how did the story itself come to life in my overly full mind? Simply put I was finally ready to write it. Twenty years is a long time when nothing is coming together as it should. I'm truly surprised I still recalled as much as I did of the characters when I finally sat and wrote.
Really the story is a culmination of years of television, video games and books burning ideas into my mind. I watched an episode of Supernatural where Dean and Sam had to fight dragons who had the body of humans. My jaw dropped. I wasn't the only one thinking of that idea. Admittedly, at that point, I had yet to hear of The Witcher. Now that I've "read" all of The Witcher books and heard of their golden dragon who transforms into humans...I'm still shocked I'm not alone!
The story also comes from something I read online, whether true or not is up in the air. Remnants from a civilization thousands of years older than anything that was previously found were discovered. That set me off on a new tangent and I had the time period that I was shooting for. The dragons land just as humanity is forming its first societies. When they enslave humanity, they fast track society.
That's where the story comes from. Those two events really pushed the story into the forefront of my mind. I thoroughly intend to follow this through and finish this story, the only thing that will stop me is death. However, death can't kill what's already planned. I intend to send this off to someone who can ensure that the story will be finished, in the event of my untimely demise. It NEEDS to be finished. I look forward to anyone's thoughts about the book. Thank you for reading.
