In 'Being Netta Wilde', Edith, or Edie as she's affectionately known, is already dead and we only get to know bits about her from her diary entries or the things that other people tell Netta about her. In this book, Netta decides it's time to fulfil the promise she made to Edith's great-nephew when she bought the house and find out more about Edith Pinsent. Along the way, she also reconnects with other people from her own past.
