Shadow of a Survivor is the account of what it means to keep
choosing life when cancer arrives early and never fully loosens its grip. At eighteen, he was
diagnosed with stage IV cancer and subjected to aggressive chemotherapy in the 1970s. The
prognosis was plain. He would not survive. Cancer survival, when it came, was not a
celebration. It was the beginning of learning how to live with fear, memory, and a body
permanently changed.


Years later, life demanded that no parent is
prepared for. His four-year-old daughter was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia. Fatherhood
