In the JERUSALEM PROPHECIES series, our guys travel from St. Anthony's Monastery in Egypt (the oldest, continuously in use monastery in the world), to the Krak de Chevaliers, a Crusader castle in Syria, to some 5,000-year-old passage tombs in Loughcrew, County Meath, Ireland. Who would know about that kind of stuff without doing research? That's the fun part.(less)

It's a different kind of writing, but it teaches you discipline and deadlines.
Buy Stephen King's book, On Writing. A fascinating read, and a lot of good ideas.
Go to Writer's Conferences. If you want to learn how to improve your craft ... or you're starting out like I was in 2005 and wanted to know the right way to write a book, to learn the craft ... there is no better investment than Writer's Conferences. You can learn a huge amount in a short time, and make some lasting and important relationships.(less)
