Alexander (they/he) is an autistic, queer, transgender writer with a goal to join other authors in breaking 2SLGBTQ+ from the confines of the “coming out” narrative as the only queer narrative. They also explore darker themes and characters from an empathetic standpoint; there are no ‘villains’ in their stories, only antagonists. In 2021, they launched YEGWrites Press and published the group's inaugural anthology volume.

They write primarily queer, psychological thriller/horror, and mystery, but also dabble in scifi & urban fantasy. Their publications include The Bolo Tie Collective Vols. IV—VII, Lida Literary Issue 01, Capital City Press Volume 2, and YEGWrites Vol. 1. They have won the 2021 Dr. MacEwan Literary Arts Scholarship and the 202

Honestly I'm rating this one up a star just because things of substance have finally started occurring again after several volumes that covered very little (time wise). Several important reveals and plot twists in this volume, and some character grow ...more

A little disappointed in this collection, and I had high hopes. The first is that, despite the blurb on the back of the book saying "queer", this book is entirely about lesbians and/or trans-femme people with the exception of the very last story that ...more

Recommended to me by a friend, a quick and fun read. The art style is very cute and kind of like a cross between the older 2D Disney style and the Harley Quinn tv show. About what you would expect plot wise but still enjoyable despite that. Graphic n ...more

Normally I wouldn't go near a text this old, but it seems to be the only one out there that specifically addresses AVPD. The first chunk of the book is very informative, going over DSM criteria and how that can manifest in people. But beyond that, th ...more

All the exclamation points and bold/italic type and capital letters are starting to get to me. Everyone's yelling/passionate all the time and it takes away from the meaning. Can't always tell who is saying what either as speech bubbles are given very ...more

A bit more plot progression in this volume which was nice after the last couple. It’s not so slow I have to force myself to read it anyway. Bizarre place to end the volume though, not so much a cliffhanger as a ‘I’ve hit page count so I guess I have ...more

“There is simply no issue more important. Conservation is the preservation of human life on earth, and that, above all else, is worth fighting for.”
Rob Stewart, Sharkwater

“When straight-identified women have sex with women, the broader culture waits in anticipation for them to return to what is likely their natural, heterosexual state; when straight-identified men have sex with men, the culture waits in anticipation for them to admit that they are gay.”
Jane Ward, Not Gay: Sex Between Straight White Men

Cormac McCarthy
“Do you think I lie to you?
No.
But you think I might lie to you about dying.
Yes.
Okay. I might. But we're not dying.
Okay.”
Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Hugh Laurie
“He flapped his mouth some more, and then shook himself awake, came to a decision, and starting sneaking huge, theatrical looks around the restaurant, as a way of telling all the other lunchers that I Am Now Going To Give This Man An Important Piece of Paper.”
Hugh Laurie, The Gun Seller

“There are as many ways to discover your story as there are to trip over a dog in the kitchen--and some of them feel about as planned.”
