Bill Runner worked as an investigative journalist before turning to writing novels. He grew up on a regular diet of western novels and movies about lone rangers, which influenced the shaping of Blaze. Bill is an experienced mountain climber and has been a lifelong student of martial arts. Working the crime beat and studying the art of fighting helped make him the author of thriller novels, which are known for well-executed action sequences.

Thanks for your question. It’s going to be a very busy year as I’ve already begun working on the sequel to my debut novel, Blaze Returns. The next instalment in the series is titled Lethal Force. It will see Axel Blaze striking back at hitmen sent after him by the Mexican cartel, SDC, whose operations in Arizona and Nevada were ended by Blaze in Blaze Returns. Lethal Force is due to be published in May. I will begin seeking beta readers for it in late March. But that doesn’t mean it will be time for a break as I plan to immediately jump into the third novel of the series. The name of that is yet to be decided. I have found that taking too long a break from writing makes it increasingly difficult to get back into the flow of writing.(less)

Hi Pat,
Thanks for your comment. One thing I love about writing Axel Blaze thrillers is I set each novel in a specific city or state of America. When I write a novel, I shift temporarily to where it's based to try and give as authentic a feel as I can. I'm glad you like the descriptions of NYC. The next novel, Unchained Fury, begins in San Francisco, and that's where I am based for now. The action will move from SF to the deserts of California and Nevada. The book will be out around mid-July.
Best wishes,

“The thing about climbing, or any other complex problem for that matter, is to break it down into specific tasks. Focus on the individual tasks, forget about the whole.”
Bill Runner, Blaze Returns

“The men were clearly feeling very confident. Logically, they did have a reason to be cocky—it was a five against one fight. But the main flaw in their logic was they didn’t know their opponent. Downing the shutters means you can take your time doling out punishment as all escape routes have been closed off. But that works both ways. There are times when the hunters become the prey.”
