Perfect Office Pact Silver Award Winner
Perfect Office Pact was honored with a 2025 Silver Finalist Award for romance by the Colorado Authors League, Sunday, July 13.
The Colorado Authors League judges are selected from teachers, professors, writers, and librarians from across the country. Maria Jane was excited to attend the annual event with the other award winners and receive the award.
Perfect Office Pact is the fourth book in the Perfect Romance series initiated under the pen name, Tricia Copeland. It follows Perfect, Perfect Always, and As Close to Perfect. The series features different characters in a group of college friends from the University of Kentucky.

Perfect Office Pact Finalist in Colorado Authors League 2025 Book Awards
I'm super excited to share that Perfect Office Pact is a finalist in the Colorado Authors League Book Awards for Romance Fiction. Three finalists were named, and the awards ceremony will take place on July 13.
Perfect Office Pact is the 4th book in the Perfect romance series that includes Perfect and Perfect always penned under Tricia Copeland, and As Close to Perfect penned under Maria Jane.
I'm super excited about this honor. Perfect Office Pact continues the series highlighting diverse characters with Mira, a Hispanic American, and Declan an autistic character. It also represents the first time I presented one of my main characters, with actually two characters making morally gray choices.
Without too many spoilers, Declan, Mira's boss, crosses a line and finds a lost family member for Mira. Even with the happiness she feels at finding this lost person, Mira's personal space and privacy feel invaded and she's angry. Instead of taking the matter to HR, Mira decides to use the situation to her advantage. She tells Declan he's got to be her mentor for a year.
What could go wrong? Believe me, almost everything!

Top Books by Women Authors to Celebrate Women's History Month
Top Books by Women Authors
In order to choose the top books by women authors I would have to read a lot of books. And because books are so subjective, I would not even dare to choose top books. So I will not even attempt to create this list. Instead, I’ve compiled a list of links to sites that are better experts than I about the top books by women authors for you. The link at the end will take you to the blog post on the website where you can find all the links.
Reader’s Digest experts created a list of the top 15 books by women authors women should read. These books were chose by four of their experts and includes titles in many genres with explanations of why the books were picked.
ET created a list of 24 books by women authors to read for Women’s History Month. The titles are arranged by genres including memoirs, non-fiction works, and fiction books.
Electric Lit complied a list of 75 book by women of color that are must reads for 2024. They’re arranged by month of release so you can add them to your TBR and set reminders when they’re released.
Book Authority.Org created a list of 20 best women’s biographies coming out in 2024. These include medical professionals, women in sports, Kamala Harris, biographies of bad ass bitches, women adventurers, and contemporary as well as historical figures.
The Greatest Books organization compiled a list of top 100 books by women authors. Many classics as well as contemporary tiles are on the list.
Good Housekeeping also compiled a list of top 100 books by women authors. There were a couple of titles I didn’t recognize, so this site is worth browsing.
Penguin books polled female readers to create their list of must read books by women authors. This list also contains titles that are new to me, so I was excited to add a few to my TBR.
If you’re a classics fan then you’ll love Book Riot’s top 100 classics by women authors. I found several interesting new reads to check out from this list. F

Perfect Office Pact Romance Podcast Episode
Today I talked on a romance author podcast about my new release, Perfect Office Pact. I loved talking about this new adult, closed-door romance and the other books in the Perfect romance series. It was fun to interview and only a little challenging to play host and guest, as Maria Jane is my romance author pen name.
Perfect Office Pact is the fourth book in the Perfect romance series and features a friend, Mira, and her love story. Mira's been a minor character in the other Perfect romance series books and played a bit of a larger role in As Close to Perfect as Bree's confidant. In As Close to Perfect we saw Mira dating Austin and he's her boyfriend in the beginning of Perfect Office Pact as well.
Perfect Office Pact is written in a third-person point of view (POV) and this is a first for Maria Jane. She wanted to be able to feature another main character, Declan, in the book and have the reader experience his perspective. The third-person POV has been well-received evidenced by the Goodreads reviews and Maria is super happy about that.
In Perfect Office Pact Mira, a Hispanic-American character, finds herself in a new job with a boss she detests, Declan, and an office mate, Cade, determined to make her life hell. Still, Mira powers through until Declan crosses a line. But what do you do when your boss screws up? Why not take advantage?
Mira and Declan make a pact. She won't tell the board what he did and he promises to help further her career. What could go wrong? You'll have to find out in Perfect Office Pact!
The other books in the Perfect romance series, Perfect, Perfect Always, and As Close to Perfect, feature friends Chloe and Bree. The series opener, Perfect, is an alternate-ending, choose-your-own ending romance that sees Chloe explore different love interest at different stages of her life. Perfect Always also features Chloe and tells her love story. As Close to Perfect features Bree and her love story.
Maria Jane is going to have her readers choose where the Perfect romance series goes next. Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope you have something fun planned for yourself. I'm spending mine making my favorite food, deep-dish pizza, and having some wine and brownies with my hubby. After dinner, I carved out some time to curl up with a good read. So, in my book, the perfect Valentine's Day!
Thank you for making Perfect Office Pact's release week super fun! I've loved getting all the impressions from you on the book, the characters, and their dating challenges.
It's so great that the 3rd person POV is being well-received. This is my first 3rd person POV book. I really wanted to bring out Declan's perspective and am so excited to hear you liked the presentation format. Yay!
Another reach for me was having a character do something that was a little ethically questionable. But I figured we're all human and things happen that challenge our ability to stay within strict lines. So, I'm excited that Mira's and Declan's reactions to their situations came across as intended... a bit on the humorous, out-there side of what would you do if!
The other challenge for me was authentically representing these characters and their diversity. And your reactions to them have been great, so I am super happy with all the research I did for this novel.
I can't wait for everyone to experience Mira and Declan's story. Or was that Mira and Cade? Hmm... ;)

5* - Amber, Goodreads – “Easy to read and get lost in. I love how the author gives us both Mira’s point of view as well as Declan’s. I like that Declan has lots of layers to him. I like that the romance isn’t rushed. It made it feel more realistic. Definitely a good read."

Declan and Mira both struggle with expressing their feelings and Mira has the NO dating your boss rule. all this makes for a book with emotions, humor, frustrations and of course romance. Thank you for making Perfect Office Pact's release week super fun! I've loved getting all the impressions from you on the book, the characters, and their dating challenges.
It's so great that the 3rd person POV is being well-received. This is my first 3rd person POV book. I really wanted to bring out Declan's perspective and am so excited to hear you liked the presentation format. Yay!
Another reach for me was having a character do something that was a little ethically questionable. But I figured we're all human and things happen that challenge our ability to stay within strict lines. So, I'm excited that Mira's and Declan's reactions to their situations came across as intended... a bit on the humorous, out-there side of what would you do if!
The other challenge for me was authentically representing these characters and their diversity. And your reactions to them have been great, so I am super happy with all the research I did for this novel.
I can't wait for everyone to experience Mira and Declan's story. Or was that Mira and Cade? Hmm... ;)
