Blurb:

She’s
definitely attracted to his type and he seems as close to perfect as a guy
could get. Only problem, she’d sworn off dating hot, muscled, athletic types
for good.

Wronged by a
string of jocks, Bree creates a hard rule: no dating athletes. Further, she
enacts a list of other guidelines to protect a fragile heart. As per the rules,
coffee meetups don’t count as dates, lunch doesn’t count as a date, there will
be no physical displays of affection until after a real date, and no sex until
he commits to an exclusive relationship.

Enter Nate.
Tall and muscular with deep blue eyes and dark hair, he’s the perfect clone for
the guys that hurt her before. If it walks like a duck, it’s a duck, right?

Enter Steven.
She could not have ordered a more perfect person. Okay, so he is muscular, but
not too tall. Be he’s also focused on his career. Definitely the mature man
she’s been looking for.

When Bree
allows herself to give in to her feelings, sparks fly. They’re happier than
could be imagined. But being a couple is about more than just the two of them.
Family, religion, location, and money all factor in.

Can they meet
in the middle?

Insight into As Close to Perfect

As Close to Perfect As Close to Perfect by Maria Jane

As the author I may be a bit biased. I love Bree's character in this book and had so much fun filling out her story. In the earlier books of the Perfect series, Perfect and Perfect Always by Tricia Copeland, she serves as a supportive and tell-it-like-it-is friend to Chloe. Here you learn more about Bree's back story and what could be her happily ever after.

Here are more details about As Close to Perfect...

Start the Perfect Romance Series

If you're new to the Perfect Romance series the best place to start is at the beginning. Each book in the series is a stand-alone and can be read in any order, but why not start at the beginning?

Perfect is not your typical romance. When I described it to one author, they said, "oh, it's speculative romance". And it just very well may be.

In Perfect, the main character, Chloe's life proceeds with her making different decisions and it being molded in different ways leading to 5 different outcomes. And the reader gets to choose which outcome and guy they think would be best suited for her.

Is it the doting high school boyfriend? Hunky college basketball player? French banker love affair? Friends to lovers New York sweetie? Or the hot banker mogul?

First Review for As Close to Perfect

So excited to get my first review for As Close to Perfect!

Thank you to Sarah for the advance copy read!

5*****
- Sarah, Goodreads
Bree's story was an impressive reading experience. The reader gets to see her insecurities, her passions, her independence and watch her find her way at love and getting her HEA. She has a rough road at times, but she manages to stay the path. ...(redacted for spoilers). I enjoyed reading this.

The 2nd Book in the Perfect romance series, Perfect Always

Following the first book of the Perfect romance series, Perfect, I had the idea to write each 5 parts of Chloe's happily-ever-after as a full-length novel.

As I grappled with the twists and turns of Chloe's life, a story grew and became Chloe's Perfect Always full-length love story.

Learn more about Perfect Always, a small-town vs. big city, old flame vs. new boyfriend, multicultural romance, form the back cover.

A girl aiming for a successful big city career. But what if her heart belongs to a small-town rancher?

Chloe dreams of leaving her tiny hometown behind and landing a job in an exhilarating metropolitan city. Toughing out her sophomore-level college business classes, she’s frustrated with the challenges of long-distance-dating her high school sweetheart, Adam. A chance encounter with Isaac, a hunky big-city-bred basketball player, leaves her confused and when Adam lays out a plan to move into his family’s ranch estate she worries her goals may be trampled underfoot.

Realizing following her passion means leaving Adam, she makes a clean break. Isaac waits in the wings and with Chloe’s growing affection for him, he wins her heart. But a school abroad program, San Francisco internship, and his drive for a professional basketball career complicate their relationship.

Can she find happiness in a big city with an on-the-rise basketball star or does her heart lie somewhere else?

Perfect Always is a standalone contemporary romance. If you like spark-filled moments and a dreamy love story, then you’ll be enchanted by Tricia Copeland’s addition to the Perfect romance series.

Get in line to throw your hat into the ring in the big city/small town debate!

Characters in the Perfect romance series

Chloe is the first main character we meet in the Perfect romance series written by Tricia Copeland, now writing under pen name Maria Jane.

We meet Chloe at the end of her sophomore year in college. She's frustrated with the long-distance relationship with her high school boyfriend, Adam.

Quickly, we learn that Chloe has high aspirations. She's a French and business double major and dreams of living in Paris. She wants to explore the world as her single mother supporting their family never could.

But does this world tour dream align with her relationship with Adam, or will Chloe have to make a hard choice about whether she'll continue to have him in her life?

Find out in Perfect, maybe, and definitely in Perfect Always.

Meet the characters... Bree of As Close to Perfect

It's one week till the release of my As Close to Perfect romance novel. I can't wait to share this story with you. The main character or protagonist in this book is Bree. Bree is Chloe's college friend and appeared in the first two Perfect romance series books briefly.

I had a lot of fun filling her character out. Bree came across as the life of the party in college. She was always Chloe's support and cheerleader. But there is much more to Bree than meets the eye. You see Bree had a number of great relationships with a certain type of guy where she was hurt. Her type is the physically tone, in-shape, muscled jock type and that has not served her well in the past. In this novel she's trying to put all of that behind her.

No spoilers... Find out more about As Close to Perfect, add to your TBR, pre-order and read for yourself!

Nate: Character intro 2 As Close to Perfect

In As Close to Perfect Bree serves as our protagonist and we cheer her on in her search for true love. Enter Nate. He's exactly the type of guys she's trying to stay away from. Tall and muscled he checks off all the boxes of a guy used to be attracted or is attracted to but has sworn off. But she's stuck with him as a tennis partner. He's smart too, with an MBA. But he's also a bit awkward and having grown up in Latvia doesn't get all the US cultural norms. The jury is out on this Nate and whether he's a keeper. Read along to see what you think... out May 24, 2022 on Kindle and KU and already in paperback!

Characters 3: Steven of As Close to Perfect

In my last two blog posts I talked about two main characters from As Close to Perfect, Bree, the main protagonist, and Nate, an antagonist as sorts. Steven, is the final MC (main character) from As Close to Perfect.

Bree meets Steven when he attends one of her basketball games with her father. Steven a couple years older than Bree and an assistant prinicpal that also coaches basketball with her father. Steven seems to be the perfect package of a guy. He's not too much of the stereotypical jock that fits Bree's I'm definitely not dating that guy.

Who are you rooting for? Steve or Nate? Get to know these characters better in a few days in As Close to Perfect, out May 24, 2022!

Happy reading! Maria
