“rolled my eyes and leaned around the box tower to see what she wanted. “Isaac.” Sarah shook a large trash bag at me from the top of the ladder. “Mom wanted you to have this.” “So, bring it to me then,” I said as I tore open the flaps of the box. “No way.” Sarah pointed to her dress. Why she insisted on wearing her church clothes all weekend was beyond me. The less time I had to wear a tie, the better. “I am not coming in there.” Sarah hung the bag on the knob of a big wardrobe next to the ladder. “You signed up to get dirty cleaning the attic, not me.” She took a step down, then added, “Oh, and Mom says don’t break anything. Only throw away what is obviously trash. Good luck.” Sarah sang that last part just to drive home what a waste my Saturday would be. I’m not going to give you money for picking up around the house, Mom had said. If you want to earn that game so badly, how about you do something that has been overlooked? We all complain about the attic. That would be wonderful help.”
