Out Now (And Two Profiles)
THE RED CAR is now a book that you can buy or take out of the library.
That seems worthy of mention.
Lot's of stuff about the book this first week out.
Two profiles of me.
One with drawing at Buzzfeed:
https://www.buzzfeed.com/doree/marcy-...
One without in Kirkus
https://www.kirkusreviews.com/feature...
I am posting links to reviews on my web page (have to keep up...)
http://www.marcydermansky.com/
And there is a feature on Goodreads, ask the author a question, so feel free. I ask myself questions all the time.
xox,
Marcy

NPR
I was on the weekend edition this weekend on NPR. It was the first in studio taping I have ever done -- so when I was led into the room for the interview and given the headphones for my interview, I waited for my interviewer. Waited. Looked around. Wondered when she would be coming.
She did not appear because she was in Washington, DC.
Fortunately, I figured something was up and put on my headphones just in time. I missed Ailsa Ailsa Chang's introduction but was there in time to say, "Nice to be here." Whew. The taping wasn't live.
If you want to hear the sound of my voice, I answer questions and read a short passage of The Red Car.

Interview
I was interviewed by Mahvash Mossaed about my writing process. The RED CAR releases in paperback on September 12.
I love the new cover of the book. I will be doing some new events this fall and I will post them, too, as the dates come closer. Stay tuned...

A New Short Story in Lenny Letter
I am super thrilled to have a new short story in the Summer Fiction Issue of Lenny Letter.
I have been a Lena Dunham fan since the beginning of Girls. She is a creative force of nature and she says what she feels, sometimes without thinking, appeared naked in a green bikini in an entire episode. She has created a space for young women to be feminists. I read Lenny Letter when it appears in my inbox, twice a week.
Here is a link to "Very Nice" --

I hope you like it.

The Red Car Out in Paperback
The Red Car is out in paperback.
I loved the cover of the hardcover edition.
I will admit to being worried when my editor told me that my publisher wanted to put a new cover on the paperback.
And behold.
I love it even more.
This is for any one who appreciates a good publishing story!
Thanks for reading. The blog. And the book! If you have read it. If you haven't yet, it's out in paperback...

Paris With Mandy
I have a new short story that was published in Joyland Magazine.
http://joylandmagazine.com/regions/ne...
True Marcy Dermansky fans might recognize that this story takes off where the short story "Very Nice" left off.

Events
Finalizing some events.
It is not enough to have a reading any more either. They really are events. When I went to Irina Reyn's launch party, there was this terrific little band playing Russian songs. Finalizing some events.

There was vodka, Russian food, a friend in the role of bartender. It was a party. I had such a good time and I put a chocolate egg in my knapsack which I ate on the subway ride home. Irina also read and was interviewed. Or, perhaps it is better say, was in conversation with...
I will be in conversation with some incredible writers. Emily St John Mandel, Megan Abbott, Robin Black, Lizzie Skurnick, Pamela Erens, It seems sort of nuts, typing this list, but it is true.
