I started writing when I became seriously ill with cancer. It was strange really, I had never written anything in my life until then but suddenly I was flowing with creative juices. It was almost as if imminent, potential death had released something within me. I like my books to be fun and easy to read and reviews of my first book 'Proteus' have confirmed this. Big text, short chapters etc etc. The biggest difficulty for me becoming a novelist was having the courage to actually release my book into the wild. I kept saying to myself, 'what would happen next?' but then I had the eureka moment when I realised that it was entirely up to me. It was my book and my story and it was up to me what happened next. After that I was away and wild horses couldn't hold me back.(less)
