Named a Finalist!!
Hi friends,
I'm excited to share some good news! 🎉
Last night, Rebel Daughter was named a finalist for The Christy, awarded by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. Earlier this week the Jewish Book Council posted a wonderful review on their site!
www.jewishbookcouncil.org/book/rebel-daughter
It's so gratifying that Rebel Daughter is resonating with readers of all faiths (after all, who can resist a compelling love story set during a dramatic time?)
Enough book-promotion..... thank you for reading this far!
In other news, the crazy holiday season in Israel has finally ended and we can get back to normal life (or rather, normal in the time of Covid!) Schools have opened, restaurants are packed and people are back at work. Traffic is terrible. Like I said - back to normal!
Wishing you all a safe, healthy October as we settle back in to our routines. Hope you take some long walks and enjoy the gorgeous foliage, eat some gut-splitting delicious meals and read some wonderful new books!!
PS I'm happy to zoom in to your synagogue, church or neighborhood book clubs! Contact me through my website www.lorikaufmann.com

Free trip back in time!
Hi friends,
You're all invited to join me and my historical consultant Prof. Jonathan Price on a free webinar this Wednesday hosted by the the American-Israel Friendship league.

Looking for a scintillating new summer read? We invite you to time travel with AIFL through the lens of Rebel Daughter (Random House) to an event that changed the course of human history: the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple. This historical novel is a thrilling saga of family, faith and forbidden love that blends the fascinating story of the Jewish people with a timeless protagonist determined to take charge of her own life against all odds.
The Israeli author Lori Banov Kaufman is joined in conversation with Tel Aviv University History Professor Jonathan Price to discuss:
Nationalism, Fanaticism and Love: Why did Judea - a small, remote province with no army - declare war on the greatest empire the world had ever known? Are there parallels today with the civil discord and religious fanaticism of that era?
History and Imagination: How do we portray the forgotten voices from history - women, slaves and children?
Would we even recognize 1st-century Jerusalem? The world in which these characters lived was filled with sounds, sights, smells, sensations and harsh social and economic realities that are far from our experience today.
Register here:

Hope to see you there! And, as always, I'd LOVE to hear from you!
Stay safe, stay well, and happy reading!!

Nominated for The Christy!
Hi,
I'm thrilled to announce that Rebel Daughter has been nominated for The Christy, an award given by the Evangelical Christian Publishers' Association! It's also featured on the Jewish Book Council site and has been reviewed in The Times of Israel and The Jerusalem Post!
The first century is one of the most important eras in human history. Based on a true story, Rebel Daughter is about a young woman caught up in the Jewish revolt against Rome. The book resonates with people of all faiths (and of course, with readers who just want a thrilling story with a little danger, war and romance thrown in!)
I'm so grateful that readers are enjoying Rebel Daughter and are taking the time to write such detailed, perceptive reviews. If you haven't read it, I hope you will and I'd love to know what you think!
