"I think I’m not really the target audience for this book since I grew up on a farm and currently live on an acreage. It’s hard to wrap my mind around why one would struggle to only go into town once a week, or why one wouldn’t just always have a stas" Read more of this review »

“Farming is repetitive in a rhythmic, cyclical way that is by turns comforting and frustrating; some people find it invigorating, while others flee to the city and never look back.”
Samantha Johnson, The Complete Illustrated Guide to Farming

“Dreams carried around in one’s heart for years, if they are dreams that have God’s approval, have a way of suddenly materializing.”
Catherine Marshall

“I work every day -- all day. But I love it. I have never known a day off. Why would I want one when there are so many wonderful things to do in the world? I find my relaxation in variety, in doing different things -- sculpturing, drawing, teaching, writing, gardening, grass cutting, sheep feeding.”
George Demetrios

“What counts more than luck is determination and perseverance. If the talent is there, it will come through. Don't be too impatient. Stick at it. That's my advice. You have to plug away, keep thinking up new ideas. If one doesn't work, try another.”
Fred Astaire

“Who is Alice?" asked mother.
"Alice is somebody that nobody can see," said Frances. "And that is why she does not have a birthday. So I am singing Happy Thursday to her." - Frances the badger”
Russell Hoban, A Birthday for Frances

“Farming is repetitive in a rhythmic, cyclical way that is by turns comforting and frustrating; some people find it invigorating, while others flee to the city and never look back.”

Samantha Hi Kendra! So happy to hear from you! Hope you're having a wonderful winter! :) You read All This Time--yay! That's one of Melissa's very best, in my opinion! Love Rae and Bear! :) How did you like it?

I just finished Bel Lamington by D. E. Stevenson and started the sequel ... delightful January reading. :)

Stay warm through this cold snap!!

Kendra I just finished Melissa Tagg's last book of her Walker Family series, "All This Time," and thought of you as soon as I finished. I hope you've been well, Samantha. I think of you more than you know and adore you from afar. Hope your 2019 is off to a lovely, bookish start. :)
