Go behind the scenes of my book, The Canal, and see the place that inspired it: the highly polluted, yet strangely endearing, Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, New York.
I recently saw Martin Amis in conversation with Matthew Weiner (the creator of Mad Men) as part of the Writers Bloc series. Not sure I quite understand the reasoning behind the pairing, but I'm a huge Amis fan (Money is one of my all time favorite books) and I managed to get yet another mediocre photo of a writer out of it (heads in the foreground are becoming my signature style).
While in New York recently, I made sure to pay a visit to the gritty-as-ever Gowanus Canal. Much fun was had, and much floating debris was witnessed. I shot a lot of video while I was there, and am currently in the process of editing it all together. In the meantime, here's a few pics of some rainy canal action. -Previous Canal Posts *Special thanks to my incredible girlfriend Maggie for the photos. (click to enlarge)
