November Wrapup - Art Thievery, Post-WWII Shenanigans, News from Three Pines, Holiday Schmaltz

We finally had our first snow last night and now it is cold. Didn't get above 20 degrees F today, but that didn't stop us from picking out the perfect Christmas tree. Holiday decorating is in full swing, and my first puzzle of the season is underway. I'm having my first hot chocolate of the season and looking forward to turkey sandwiches with leftover fixin's for dinner tonight.

“Reading is like breathing. Reading the classics is like breathing highly oxygenated air.”
Jane Greensmith

“Many a true thing is said in jest.”
Jane Greensmith

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
Charles Dickens

“It is a long way to Ireland, Janet, and I am sorry to send my little friend on such weary travels: but if I can't do better, how is it to be helped? Are you anything akin to me, do you think, Jane?"

I could risk no sort of answer by this time: my heart was still.

"Because, he said, "I sometimes have a queer feeling with regard to you - especially when you are near me, as now: it is as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly and inextricably knotted to a similar string situated in the corresponding quarter of your little frame. And if that boisterous channel, and two hundred miles or so of land some broad between us, I am afraid that cord of communion will be snapt; and then I've a nervous notion I should take to bleeding inwardly. As for you, - you'd forget me.”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

“There are two motives for reading a book; one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast about it.”
Bertrand Russell

“Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.”
Pablo Picasso

“Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.”
George Burns

Janet Smith Just you! :)

It does take a little getting used to, but I love GR and find it the best social networking site, bar none.

Enjoy....

M.J. Johnson Hi Jane,
Thanks for the friending me. I've only recently become a member and still trying to negotiate my way around Goodreads - is it me or is it unnecessarily complicated?
Take care

Janet Smith Thanks for the comment about Intimations of Austen--so glad you enjoyed my stories! They were truly a labor of love.

Meredith (Austenesque Reviews) Thanks for accepting my friend request. I enjoyed your book very much! I loved the compilation of different Austen characters and books, as well as, the original ideas and stories you created.
