My newest publications are “Because of This Night,” a collection of paintings and Oulipo poems included in *Triple No. 14* and “I Would Prefer Not To,” a collection of line drawings in *Triple No. 8* (both published by Ravenna Press). I am the author/illustrator of the graphic novel *The Tommy Plans* (Spuyten Duyvil, 2014), set in Texas during the Cold War (to comic effect). MudLuscious Press issued the chapbook *Dr Polidori's Sketchbook* in 2010. I was also the translator of *Chinese Checkers: Three Fictions by Mario Bellatin* (Ravenna, 2006, http://ravennapress.com/books/title.p...) and co-translator (and jacket illustrator) of *A Heron in Buenos Aires* (http://www.ravennapress.com/books/tit...), poems by Luis Benitez. My fiction has appeared in *New York Tyrant*, *Keyhole*, the anthology *Shadows and Silence* (http://www.ash-tree.bc.ca/atp66shadow...) and other magazines.

My poetry appears under the name Cooper Esteban or Cooper Esteban Renner. *Florid Victorian Ornament* and *Mosefolket* (http://ravennapress.com) are both available from Ravenna Press. *Jove Protected by Geese* was published in 1999 as a hand-made limited edition by Deron Bauman at elimae books. Quite enjoyable, but docked a star for examples of what looks like careless writing (or editing?), Theroux’s occasional tendency toward run-on sentences, and his much more obnoxious display of his vocabulary, especially in the first few pages.

In any normal sense this is probably a 4star book. BUT it’s just well-done “literary fiction,” shades of Hemingway leanness, a scent of magic realism in the second on the 3 novellas. Nothing particularly astonishing.
