Graeme Cumming lives in Robin Hood country. He is the author of the Rand Scott crime thrillers Borderline and Renegade – a gritty blend of action, dark humour and violence. Borderline has been shortlisted for the Best Crime/Thriller novel at the Noose Awards. Also available are Ravens Gathering and Carrion, thrillers that cross genres with horror and fantasy.

Graeme has wide and varied taste in fiction, but a particular leaning towards the darker side – though he’s very pleasant when you meet him.

When not writing, Graeme is an enthusiastic sailor (and, by default, swimmer), he reads a lot and loves the cinema.

The Expert Witness by Julia Stone

A new author to me, but one I’ll certainly read again. The Expert Witness was something of a slow burn to start with. The direction the book was going in wasn’t clear for a while, but the writing meant I somehow felt compelled to read on. By the time ...more

Hadn't read anything by MA Hunter before. I certainly will again. I'd be lying if I said I didn't see any of the twists and turns coming, but there were enough surprises in there to keep me on the edge of my seat. Under normal circumstances, I'll be ...more

The blurb on this book says it’s inspired by a true story, which is intriguing in itself. As I was reading it, there were several strands that started to take shape and I did wonder which part of it was the inspiration. And that became part of the ex ...more

Abduction by Colin Mardell

Having read a Colin Mardell book before, I was curious about his other work and picked on Abduction, the first in what appears to be a trilogy.
The early parts of the book did feel a little heavy as there was a lot of scene-setting. There were also so

I’m not a great reader of sci-fi. It’s several years since I read any. In part, that’s because some of the sci-fi I’ve read in the past has felt a bit technical, and sometimes bogged down in more detail than I can take in – especially when it comes t ...more

Before I say anything about this book, it’s important to note that, although I have quite enjoyed Doctor Who at times, I have never been what you’d call a Whovian. But that doesn’t matter.
I should also say that, although I have met David J Howe a co

I'll be amazed if I'd read more than fifty poems in my whole life up until this summer. Over the last couple of months, though, I've managed another five hundred - and enjoyed them. Having said that, I did have mixed feelings. There were moments when ...more
