MARC'S MEMOS

9-18-15

Recently, I read a poem that had no author attached to it so I will just say "written by anonymous." If someone recognizes it, I will gladly acknowledge the author in a following post. Here is the poem, untitled also.

God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you
and whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched you suffer,
and saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating
hardworking hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove,
He only takes the best.

It's lonesome here without you,
we miss you more each day.
Life doesn't seem the same
since you've gone away.

When days are sad and lonely,
and many things go wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
"Cheer up and carry on."

Each time we see your picture,
you seem to smile and say,
"I'm home in God's safe-keeping,
we'll meet again someday.

This is a case of rhyming poetry that I still enjoy, even though it may not be "popular" or "intellectual" enough for the iPOETRY group. I LIKE IT!!!

UNTIL NEXT TIME, TAKE CARE! MARC

MARC'S MEMOS

12/19/2020

I am so exited to begin blogging again. I had a few health issues to deal with and felt I wasn't participating on a regular basis, so I was away for about three years.

I have a written a few poems since then and would like to share them with you. I was in the iPoetry! Group back then, but my style of poetry was deemed not intellectual or current. I did enter their contests, however, and didn't expect to win. I thought it was supposed to be a forum for poetry, good or bad, and it was the only place for poetry at that time.

Anyway, I am back and am posting my most recent poem. Considering all of the sad things that are happening in this country I felt a poem was appropriate. Please consider the place that it comes from, not for the actual poem. I hope you like it. It is called...

LOVE VS. HATE

Anger and hate
Just don't equate
To love and kindness
There is no debate
'Cross the breadth of the country
To a singular state
The message of LOVE
Will always create
A peaceful existence
We all can relate
We've got to work harder
To determine our fate
The future is fleeting
And we must not wait
To love ALL the people
So we can be great!!!

UNTIL NEXT TIME, TAKE CARE! MARC

MARC'S MEMOS

1-15-2021

I was in Oklahoma City last October on a trip to visit an elderly relative in Iowa. I made it a point to visit the OKC Memorial that was created after the terrible senseless bombing of the Murrah Federal Building that took so many innocent lives. It was April 19, 1995 that the catastrophe took place. It killed 168 people that included 19 children and babies.

A memorial was created in the exact place that the building stood before its destruction. A reflecting pool was in the center and at each end a wall was constructed to similate the building's dimension. Of course, the ruble had been removed, but it was
still very sobering. There was a chair-like marker that represented every single victim spaced several feet apart that light up at night. I was not able to see it lit. I was there in the daytime. Their names were also engraved on a part of the actual building that was left for effect. Again it was very, very sad.

It is amazing that someone could be that evil. So tragic! I was moved to write a poem. It is titled
INNOCENCE LOST.

A beautiful spring morning
On a fateful April day
Many lives will be taken
As a time clock ticks away

A multi-story building
In the middle of the town
Exploded into history
As it disintegrated to the ground

Frantic scores of people
With panic on their face
Staring at a building
Where ruble fills its space

So many innocent people
Just going about their day
Will sadly end their time on earth
In a really terrible way

A truly misguided person
A skewed belief of strife
Released his sick and evil plan
With no regard for life

God bless the little babies
That never had a chance
To play with other children
To blossom or to dance

The moms, the sons, the daughters
Their shattered future dreams
And daddies won't be coming home
Its hopeless so it seems

We pray that families will start to heal
That time is on their side
They won't forget the ones they loved
And will remember them with pride!

I hope you liked it. Until next time, take care! Marc

MARC'S MEMOS

8-21-21
I have been neglecting my blog for too long and I know that nobody has missed it. I was very active back in 2009 and 2010 as I had just published my chapbook "POEMS FROM THE HEART." I was even following certain threads on several groups I was a member of. I enjoyed reading and posting replies to other members. I had been a rather frequent blogger and tried to be involved in many topics.

Then came a period where I was experiencing some health issues, in 2013, and I had reached a point where I was finding it hard to make contributions to the group discussions. I felt it was time to just delete my account. I probably should have just taken a hiatus for a while instead. I was able to retrieve some of my blogs and a couple of other items such as my two short home marketing videos. I lost all of my friends, but strangely retained my followers as an author.

I rejoined GoodReads in December of 2020 and thought I would post regularly, but again I found it hard to find time. I am sure that people may check back for a new post, but they only find the same post they read last time they visited my profile page. So it is my own fault. Maybe I will just start posting some old poems and new ones that have not appeared before. They are in a rhyming style which wasn't very popular when I was a member of the iPoetry group. That became another reason why I decided to cancel my account. I was under the impression that it was just a place to post your poems and read others. It became a reason for rhyming versus prose and the rhyming poems were not considered intellectual enough. So not an inclusive attitude towards those of us that still find it acceptable. Lyrics to beautiful songs use rhyming lines to tell a story or express emotions. Think of all the love songs or just great lyrics you sing to from a memorable favorite. Most of them rhyme. And guess what, it doesn't matter if they don't. They can still be great songs.

Anyway, I hope to try harder to post more often even if no one reads them. Also, I never claimed they were outstanding poems, just heartfelt poetry!

UNTIL NEXT TIME, TAKE CARE! MARC

MARC' MEMOS

8-27-21

I bought an RV last year in the middle of the pandemic. We wore masks during the entire transaction and stayed 6 feet away from everyone. We chose short trips close to home. The campgrounds were non-contact stays at different places. We made our reservations online and when we arrived, the reservation telling us which site we were assigned to was tacked to a board. We never saw the office staff and no contact was made with any park employee. Of course, our campsites were always spaced safely away from other campers. All the while we maintained the idea that we would practice safe protocols to avoid catching Covid-19.

I wrote a poem that explains the feeling I had dreaming of places we could visit. It is called "LET'S MAKE MEMORIES."

Let's go in search of memories
And make them along the way
Taking time to share them
Each and every day

Let's go in search of memories
And celebrate what we find
Far away places we may see
And record them in our minds

Let's go in search of memories
There are many we can make
On a journey through the wilderness
Down any road we take

Let's go in search of memories
Not just anyone will do
So thankful you'll spend time with me
You know that I LOVE YOU!

Until next time, take care! Marc
