A Dream come true!
It took 17 years and the ability to overcome a myriad of obstacles to finally bring Deadly Sanctuary to the big screen. It was indeed an electrifying moment to share the excitement of the film's theatrical premiere on March 23, 2015 with family, friends and loyal Kendall O'Dell fans!
I could write a book on the experiences of being on set everyday and watching the transformation of novel to script to listening to the words I'd written being uttered by the actors. Truly magical!
The DVD is now available to pre-order at Walmart, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble. Soon to be at Amazon and on demand cable.
Chase your dreams until you catch them!

Deadly Sanctuary Movie
I am so excited to be traveling to California very soon to view the rough cut of the movie Deadly Sanctuary based on my first Kendall O'Dell Mystery.
Now we are still a long way to editing the final movie, but this will be my first chance to see all of the many hours of filming shot on site here in Arizona at Bumble Bee and Black Canyon City. Seeing the scene shot is one thing but seeing what the camera actually filmed is another.
I am so anxious to see how the story comes together on the screen. We were very careful to stay very close to the book. A couple of minor changes were necessary as it is hard to call up a monsoon storm when you are filming!
When I return I will share my impressions. I'm certain this will be a very emotional time as this has been in the works for so many years and is the realization of a big dream. Stay tuned!

Working hard!
It's been a long time since I posted anything, but you must forgive me since I've been busy researching and writing Kendall O'Dell's 5th adventure. I wish I could write my books faster, but I can't. I am a slow and methodical writer and because all my mystery novels are based on actual events, it takes time to ferret out the correct facts in order to write a believable, entertaining story. Because the subject matter is so timely, I have had to readjust the plot line several times to update the material as events keep changing. So, bear with me. My goal is to finish the first draft by the end of this year and if I could just expand the number of hours in each day, I could probably finish it sooner. I estimate that I am just about at the halfway point. Thank you, all my devoted fans, for your continuing patience!!

Backstory details!
Many of my devoted fans have written asking me questions over these years about my books and I thought I'd take a minute to answer some of them. Question # 1. What town is Castle Valley based on? It is based on Wickenburg, Arizona. When I was searching for just the right setting for the Kendall O'Dell mystery series, I visited many small towns in Arizona before making my decision. Wickenburg just had the right feel when I drove in that blazing hot summer afternoon. Somehow, it has retained the ambiance of a true Western town, even today with most of the dude ranches long gone. It's a quiet, friendly little town and I enjoyed meeting and talking with many of the locals and exploring the entire area. Because all of my books are based on actual cases and newspaper articles, I had to change the name and borrowed the name Castle Valley from Utah. Question #2. How did you come up with Kendall's name? Believe it or not, the name came from Kendall's Famous Burgers in Prescott, Arizona. I was enjoying one of their wonderful hamburgers and had been mulling over names for weeks. It struck me suddenly that Kendall was just the name I was looking for. I loved the way it sounded & it melded very well with O'Dell. It is a good strong name, like the character herself! I have hundreds of back stories to tell about the research I conducted on all the books and will share them in the future. Check out the book trailer on this site & visit mine at www.niteowlbooks.com

Hooray for Hollywood!
My trip to Hollywood to attend the ASC Awards Dinner was fun and memorable! We stayed at the beautiful Renaissance Hotel right in downtown Hollywood. The weekend had everything: Excitement, glitz, glamour, great food, shopping and weather. Downtown Hollywood & Highland at night was a kick. It's like Halloween 24/7 with people dressed in all sorts of costumes, playing instruments, dancing, singing, you name it. Lots of wannabes running around hoping for their 15 minutes of fame or their big break into the film industry. I was lucky enough to attend the ASC Open House on Saturday in the oldest home in LA. There I met up with William Wages who shot & directed my Deadly Sanctuary book trailer last November. (you can view the book trailer on this site) The ASC House is rich with the history of cinematography and holds a treasure trove of old cameras & photos of the early days of film making. Bill is so knowledgable on the subject and it was quite an education. The Awards dinner was fantastic, exciting, glamorous, and we got to mingle with some of the finest camera operators in the business. Harrison Ford was there along with Antonio Banderas, John Crier, James Cromwell & other celebrities. Bill Wages gave a wonderful acceptance speech for his lifetime achievement award & it was thrilling to be there as he accepted this well-earned honor. He is highly respected by his peers! It was great fun getting all dressed up in a long gown for the occasion. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and I am grateful to have been invited. I returned home and appeared on the Morning Scramble TV show yesterday. So, for the time being, the excitement is over and it's back to the grind!
