Allegra Gray is a former military officer--turned English professor--turned homeland defense analyst. One thing she has always been, though, is a storyteller. Allegra wrote her first book at the age of 5 (it has yet to be published).

Allegra began her publishing career while teaching in the English department of the U.S. Air Force Academy, but soon discovered that non-fiction, academic work was not enough to satisfy her creative drive. She turned to fiction, and launched her career as a novelist with Kensington Publishing, with the release of a historical romance, “Nothing But Scandal” in 2009.

Allegra lives in Colorado and writes novels full of steamy intrigue that interweave her love of history, legend, and romance.

It's really that simple. Write, and then do it again the next day, and the next. Write when you'd rather be doing something else, or it would be easier not to. Write when your friends are going to the movies, or you could be watching soccer practice. Write during your lunch break, or on your day off, or both.

Writing, especially writing novels--meaning more than one, takes incredible discipline. The concept is simple, but actually doing it is hard. If you are serious about it, though, you'll keep coming back. Keep trying, and keep writing. Conferences and writers' groups are fun and may help you learn things about your craft, but they can't write the book for you. Only you can do that.(less)

Allegra Gray No worries, Lauren. I am still finding my way around Goodreads myself...even though I've been a member for a while, I haven't been that active. I just saw the topic of the book you're reading and thought it sounded intriguing.

Lauren I tried to reply to your comment, and I accidentally deleted it! Sorry! I'm only about 60 pages into Wild and I really like it so far. Reminds me a little of Eat Pray Love. I will let you know if it stays that way. :)
