The harpsichord in the story didn't start as a piano, but that quickly changed because there were a few mentions of a piano in Book 1.

Because Carson is a single mom, she's juggling more than work. Her children and family life had to come into play. Bringing Ella into the mix was natural because she and Carson are connected by blood. It also shows Carson being a mom and being unapologetically herself, which a lot of moms and families need to see. As a mom, I see many of my friends going through the same things Carson does with her children—only most of them don't see and speak with ghosts, at least none that I know of. :) (less)
