Pigeons everywhere!
It's happening again...a topic of one of my books has now become something I'm seeing EVERYWHERE!
This time it's pigeons and they're going to Paris!
Watch for announcements on my social media pages but it's expected to launch on September 24, 2024

Ess-CAR-Go!
My newest children's picture book, "Ess-CAR-Go!" will be releasing later this month!
This book was so much fun to write and illustrate.
It all started because, where I currently live in Barbados, it is very warm and sunny with lots of random rain showers. On most days, you really have to hunt for snails. On rainy days though--they are EVERYWHERE! And even though people think they move quite slowly, it's actually pretty fast!
I have had a great time watching them run their snail olympics and of course the Ess-Car Go! Garlik Buttr sponsored "Snails in Motion Tour". This racing circuit is followed closely by all the garden residents. You'll see geckos, frogs, bugs, more snails, birds of many descriptions, and often Oscar--the big orange stray cat who comes to have breakfast with me most days.
From regular garden snails up to large Giant African Land Snails, they are fascinating to watch. Your children will truly enjoy this book--all my test children demanded more and I'm being forced to create a book about Doc Hopper now thanks to his heroic efforts to save an injured snail.
Happy reading and I hope to hear from you soon!
If you read or enjoy any of my books, I appreciate your reviews and comments. I'd also love to hear from you, so please reach out!

Empowered and Proud
I am pleased to announce the release of a multi-author book that is both empowering and inspiring.
Releasing on September 15th, I was blessed to have an advanced copy and be able to review this wonderful work.
My fellow authors humbled me with their words as some shared the most intimate stories and how they healed. Many of them use those experiences to empower and heal others in their everyday lives through courses, support groups and regular jobs like nursing.
Three words:
Powerful
Heartfelt
Sincere
Like a cup of coffee with your best friend or favourite aunt, you will walk away feeling ready to take on the world!

Upcoming Titles!
It is with great excitement that I announce two new titles coming soon from Friesen Press.--"There's a Buzzard on the Balcony" and "There's a Seagull on my Sailboat".
These stories are told in rhyming verse from the child's point of view. You the reader are first-hand experiencing the adventure. You've brought Bunny, Teddy and your cat, McDuff, along for the ride.
In "Buzzard", an unexpected guest has dropped by right as you are about to sit down for tea. Oh no...he looks very hungry! In the story we choose to invite him in and offer him a bite to eat--of crumpets, of course! Not of us! We then use our manners to make a new friend.
In "Seagull", we are embarking on a day of playing boats when a bossy seagull intervenes and takes over our game. He tells us what to do and where to go...we decide to follow his instructions and end up having a jolly time!
This one includes a tongue-in-cheek glossary of sailing terms to assist those not familiar with some of the words in the story, but don't worry. Much like you don't have to be a sailor to enjoy a pirate book, you don't have to be a sailor to enjoy this one!
As an author and illustrator, my goal is to create stories which interest and engage youngsters and will inspire a life-long love of reading.
These books were beta tested on several children in the age bracket of 2-10 years old, and all had varying questions and comments which I then included in the final drafts.
"Seagull" was beta-tested on the kids down at the local yacht club, who didn't know some of the sailing words and asked for meanings. Voila! Glossary and illustrations which better showed what the crew were up to.
I hope you and your littles enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
I encourage you to review the books, if you have read them. I also welcome comments and or suggestions regarding my work. You can help me improve!

Sync-ronicity
I have a blog. It is located on my website at www.ruthamanda.com
Please feel free to go there and follow along!
I tried today to sync it with this blog but it doesn't appear to be the correct feed type, therefore I am typing this wee little entry.
I am a writer. It's what I do. Ruth Amanda Writes.
I do NOT do:
*Tech support (seriously, that's why I have a very patient Dave!)
*Programming (unless you count TikTok or YouTube programmes not computer programs...if you get my drift)
*Medical examinations (aside from occasional bandaids)
*Scientific studies (although I do many amateur observations)
But I DO do the following things:
*illustrate my own books
*make up silly words to songs my husband used to like (he'd still like them if I didn't make up my own words)
*sketch
*paint
*over dramatize simple children's poems (picture "I'm a Little Teapot" in the style of "the Godfather". My husband hopes no one ever finds it but it's on TikTok. Look it up!)
*sometimes dress like a drag queen because who doesn't want to look fabulously over the top?
The main point. I failed to Sync and now I'm out of Sync, and now I'm writing two blogs which may include the kitchen sink...
