This is when traumatized people re-victimize themselves and enter into situations or relationships that recreate their trauma. They do this in the hope of mastering their pain, thinking that this time they’ll be able to resolve it. However, all it does is put them in further danger, exasperating their pain and leading to more self-loathing.”
