Then I check my e-mail, then open my document and read the last line I wrote, then realize I forgot the laundry in the washer, then hit my head again against the closest surface, then stare again at that last sentence, then check my notes to see where I was going, then check facebook, then pluck a hair I just can't ignore anymore on my chin, then set the timer and tell myself, JUST TEN MINUTES, and I type the first word. Then another comes, and I type another, and before I know it, an hour has passed—most days. The other days, I lie down to think and end up falling asleep.(less)

Hi Johna,
As you may know, Chloe’s Watcher is the second book in my Nephilim Redemption series, so Chloe’s Watcher was my chance to continue with the main characters of Book 1 and further develop secondary and new characters. I also got the chance with Watcher to go to World War II, which is a favorite historical time period of mine. In Book 1, Horatius is trying to find some redemption while helping Chloe (if you can call it help:) so in Book 2, I gave Panahasi, his brother, a chance for a little redemption too.

Just to give a little background on the whole series, I based the idea on an obscure, odd passage in the Bible that tells about the Nephilim, the offspring of the “sons of God” and the “daughters of man.” When I read that, I thought a Nephilim could be the perfect choice for a protagonist. Half angel and half human, he could have the traits of both and use them in his pursuit of goodness. And in the process, do things like fly out of the Time Band and enter at other times and dimensions. It was a lot of fun creating the rules of their world and letting my characters experience all that could happen in the story.

Thanks for asking!

Hard Days Turned Unforgettably Delightful

This week after a run-in with a ridiculously antagonistic person in my life that made my blood boil, I decided we needed to dance and bounce out all that negative energy. “We” meaning me and my two adorable charges, R and C. These delightful girls are my sanity, joy, and reason to get up many mornings. R is three, and C is her one-year-old sister. I take care of them every morning while their mom Read more of this blog post »
