I can answer this with a short piece of a novella I'm working on:

"She looked up. Parts of the ceiling were black. Water, she remembered slowly. Leakage. Slowly the noise re-entered her head, as if it also, had been filled with water. The clamor of the city. It infiltrated her mind, her thoughts, like pinpricks. She desperately wanted to block it all out again. To shut the outside world again. She narrowed her eyes and looked at the curtain depraved windows, that let in all the neon flashes from outside. The outside world slowly skittered back into her senses. It wasn’t welcomed back in. Japanese Translations are.. tough!

I must say, trying to translate (and edit) my book about a scared little hedgehog in a language I can't even read, feels a lot like fumbling in the dark. Thankfully both Yuko Mitani and Kazuhisa Kawahara are helping me tremendously and I am forever grateful for all your help! We are nearly there. Gambatte!

Not sure what to think about this book, it's so extremely high rated but until now i'm feeling too old for this shit. a Hoover? a Dyson? Are we comparing things to home appliances now?

"What would provoke an author to biographize a person he so clearly disdains? Nothing new or provocative here, but plenty regurgitation of other, better books. I should’ve listened to Patrick Radden Keefe, when asked at the Southern Festival of Books " Read more of this review »

“Henry was a bit surprised that the owl was concerned about him, and he began to think about what the owl had said. He decided that he didn't want to be a fearful little prickly ball his whole life.”
Nienke Witteveen, Het Bange Egeltje

“The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.”
Terry Pratchett, Diggers

“So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.”
Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“There is no such thing as a true tale. Truth has many faces and the truth is like to the old road to Avalon; it depends on your own will, and your own thoughts, whither the road will take you.”
Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Mists of Avalon

“Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.”
