Kate has been in love with love as long as she can remember. She grew up running barefoot through the Ohio Valley forests, dancing around drum circles steeped in magic, and waiting for an angsty vampire to steal her away. Spoiler alert: he never did. A self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, Kate lives and breathes romance of all kinds—and the spicier, the better. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, 3 kids, fat cat, and chocolate lab. When she isn’t writing (amongst the chaos of it all), she’s reading—of course, dancing ballet and/or hip hop, working on her PhD in Literature, and probably drinking too much coffee.

I started writing it during NaNoWriMo in 2010 (at 17!) because I wanted a classically romantic piece featuring vampires. It was not until adulthood that I added some of the sexier/darker elements. "This incredibly “rich and strange” book - as Shakespeare might have called it - was my go-to literary comfort food in the late 60’s.

For I had “discovered” the richness and strangeness of Elizabethan writing.

And fuck, that was heartbreaking to see.
Because I, too, was a prisoner in my life.”
