Mark Edward Hall is the author of the bestselling fantasy and science fiction Blue Light Series. He’s written more than twenty novels and numerous short stories.

Apocalypse Island — In Book 1 of The Blue Light Series we meet Danny Wolf, Laura Higgins and Police Lieutenant Rick Jennings.
Their city has turned into a killing ground. Is it a serial killer, someone with a penchant for the macabre and a need to destroy? Or is it a darker force, an ancient legend from a mysterious Island come ashore to wreak havoc upon the unsuspecting?
In a desperate search for answers they discover a government conspiracy involving the Catholic Church, and a cold war CIA mind control program known as MK-Ultra where children were used as test subjects.

If I don't feel inspired on any given day, I sit down and write anyway. The important thing is to carry the story forward. Just get it down. You can always go back and edit later when you do feel inspired. At least you have something to work with. (less)

My first answer would have Io be Sherlock Holmes and Watson because of their remarkable intuitiveness. Holmes was obviously the boss, but he never would have been able to solve as many cases without having a partner like Watson to bounce ideas off of. Rizzoli and Isles are also a good match-up. And I thought that Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley were good because of their mutual respect for one another. I know there are many more great couples in literary history. These are a few of my favorites. Thanks for the question ~ Mark... (less)

One Writer’s Journey: Adventures in Publishing

This is a reprint of a guest post I did last August on J.A. Konrath's blog, A newbie's guide to Publishing.

This sounds strange to most writers when I talk about it, but I have never actively pursued a traditional book deal. I mean that. Never in my life. Unlike writers like Joe who in the beginning sent manuscripts to hundreds of publishers, I’ve never sent one.

Most of my career was spent on the Read more of this blog post »

“Storytelling is a cornerstone of human experience. Words are small pieces of magic, spells that can unlock worlds. Every book is an expedition, a voyage into the realm of ideas, and each word is a step along the way. Magic does exist. I discovered it in the books I read from a very young age. Sometimes I think reading saved my life.”

Mark Hall Thanks for the friend request, Ed. Interesting to see that you're a singer/songwriter. So am I. I still have a band but now we do it mostly for fun. We do maybe a dozen gigs a year. These days I put all my efforts into writing fiction. None of us are immortal and I wish to produce as much work as possible while I am still able. (hopefully that will be a lot)
Your book sounds interesting. Good luck with it. Thanks in advance if you should decide to read any of my books.

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, Mark. You seem like an interesting person, as well as quite the prolific and accomplished author, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed
